Style Tips For A Fast & Fabulous Fall Wardrobe Transition

Lexi-9

With Summer now a month behind us, we are tasked with the hassle of swapping out our bikinis for beanies and our crop-tops for trench coats.

That’s right. It’s time to transition from Summer Style to Fall Fashion.

Unfortunately though, our wardrobes can only gradually evolve along with the slow and steady rise and fall of seasonal temperature changes. It’s not as if the weather transforms from “Sunny in the Summer” to “Frosty in the Fall” overnight, right?

But all that really means is that we should be progressively integrating warmer clothes, longer sleeves, and more layers to our preexisting Summer wardrobes as the temperatures drop.

Then by the time the temperature and all of the leaves are done falling, our Fall wardrobes will finally feel finished!

The only true challenge however, is finding ways to remain fabulous and avoid appearing tacky or tasteless during that brief transitional stage. This task is especially difficult because the left over Summer heat makes most Fall clothing too hot to wear during the day, and with Fall weather starting to creep in, the mornings and evenings are entirely too chilly to be wearing tank tops, mini dresses,  or shorts.

Fortunately though, I’ve discovered a few ways to style my outfits during awkward periods of weather such as this, all without sacrificing the ensembles “fab-factor” or my own comfort.

TAKING ON THE TRANSITION

I know this may seem obvious,  but the first thing to consider when choosing your OOTD is the weather. Of course if it’s raining you should instantly grab a jacket and forget about those suede booties, but that’s not really what I’m talking about.

I’m talking about opening up that weather app on your phone and actually checking the high and low temperatures for the day. And I’m not sure if it’s the same case everywhere, but Georgia weather tends to fluctuate pretty drastically between morning, day, and night during the early weeks of Fall.

What that means is, morning hours this time of year are generally a little bit chilly, especially on windier days. By early afternoon the temperatures could be up by 20°F-25°F. Combine those temperatures with potential humidity and a sunny Fall afternoon can start to feel like another sticky and sweaty Summer day.

Not cool if you’re still wearing that long sleeve shirt and pair of suffocating skinny jeans that you put on earlier that morning while it was still cold.

And that is exactly why checking the hourly forecast before getting dressed each day is so important. That way you can plan your outfit accordingly!

 EARLY FALL OUTFITS

So during the early stages of fall, its super easy to style some of the shirts you wore in the summer with a pair of jeans and ankle booties. I’m a huge fan of distressed denim, and I always aim for medium, light, or completely black washed jeans.

It’s also super easy to accessorize with a brimmed hat and/or statement necklace like I did here. I actually handmade the necklace I’m wearing (along with 4 others) using the tip from a real deer antler, and gold plated chain.

Of course, I had to wear this outfit with my favorite gray suede ankle booties. If I could buy every pair of ankle booties I laid eyes on, I probably would lol.

My next early Fall ensemble is very similar to the first. I wore the same denim jeans and brimmed hat, however I added a white crochet infinity scarf and I’m wearing a lighter colored shirt.

I also swapped out my gray ankle booties for these adorable suede chukka boots that I purchased from Forever 21.

I almost forgot to mention that this gray dolphin hem tee was also snagged from my Summer wardrobe, and I was easily able to transform the entire outfit just by adding in some Fall accessories.

MID FALL OUTFITS

The key to transitioning into the later and colder stages of Fall are honestly pretty simple, but I bet you didn’t know that you could still be utilizing some of those things from Summer!

In the outfit I’m modeling above, I’m actually wearing the same shirt I featured in outfit #1! I’m also still wearing the same denim jeans that I’ve worn throughout all the other outfits, as well as my Forever 21 suede chukka boots from outfit #2.

This particular outfit however, is styled with my favorite leather jacket with wool blended sleeves and a hood. The whole outfit is beautifully tied together with another one of my deer antler tip nacklaces, which provides just enough excitement to the look without over-accessorizing.

Overall, this has been one of my favorite outfits to wear so far this Fall, and I have already gotten tons of compliments. The best part about this outfit however is that it is easy to put together, and it allows me to look casual without sacraficing style.

LATE FALL OUTFITS

When a jacket and pair of pants are no longer enough to keep warm, my favorite way to heat up an outfit is to add in a blanket scarf!

Here I wore the same exact outfit as before, but by adding the blanket scarf I felt instantly 10° warmer. Blanket scarves are larger, and when folded, much thicker than most other scarves, and I always feel much warmer and cozier whenever I have my favorite blanket scarf wrapped around my neck. Not to mention, way more stylish too!

The reason I featured different variations of the same outfit was to show exactly how an outfit can either be dressed up or down depending on the weather, or temperature of the room that you’re in.

Regardless of whether I was outside and huddled in my blanket scarf, or indoors where I was comfortably warm and able to remove my jacket, I looked equally as stylish.

I was also able to gain more use out of a summer top all throughout the fall season, thus saving more money on expanding my wardrobe.

But that’s all that I have to share today, and I hope you all enjoyed my post! Remember to keep warm this Fall, and try to stay healthy throughout the cold and flu season.
